When you get sick you may or may not have an appetite. What you eat or try to eat during this time will depend on your goals and appetite in general. I have seen SO many posts saying âuse this as a chance to dietâ and that is exactly what you SHOULD NOT do. Your body is already under stress from being sick and failing to provide it with nutrients is only going to stress it more.
đˇ tracking macros and still have an appetite? If you typically track and you are still genuinely hungry (it me, Iâm always hungry), and you are still able to eat all your normal amounts then by all means, keep tracking.
đˇ if you track macros and have no appetite: prioritize protein and getting some form of micronutrients, but really just try and consume calories in general to give your body fuel to heal
đˇnot tracking and not hungry: get calories in as best you can
I like these food options because they are an easy, calorie-dense option:
𼣠oatmeal - add protein powder, fruit, nut butter, etc. make it as simple or fancy as you like
đĽ¤smoothies: use frozen fruit, protein, granola, oats, etc. again, can be a big calorie bump
đľ soups and stews: easy to eat and usually a good source of protein!
